Sword and Baskets to Balance?

topic posted Sun, March 16, 2008 - 10:39 AM by  Jenn
So, I just paid off my credit card today!!! and have discresionary income for the first time in my life! YEAH!

And I am treating myself to balancing materials, so that I can add that to my ATS performance :):)

Does anyone have recommendations on what/where ideal balancing baskets and swords can be found, suitable for ATS dancers?

So siked - so siked!!

Let me know your thoughts?

I would also suggest using the search function here, as well as on the Tribal Belly Dance Tribe and other BD related tribes to find similar discussions. I know others have asked the same question in the past. Do a little detective work, and you may come up with some brilliant answers to your questions! :-)

just bought my first sword (s) in February. I did a little research and as somone betwixed tihngs in life BD is only half assed so I didn't want or could afford a Saroyan... although I hear marvoulous things about them. So I went middle of the road with a heavier scimtar and settled with Kult of Athena. I initially went with the Moorish which says it can be danced with (mixed reviews from dancers) but it was back ordered so instead of doing the sensible thing and just switching my order I ordered the Balady scimatar (still awaiting my backordered moorish sword).

Yeah for the spirit of I WANT IT NOW FOR MY BIRTHDAY!!

Anyway I digress. The balady is heavy. I love it. It twists a fair amount on my from front to back but I assume that is student error rather than the sword. Mine sits up right and doesn't list, I didn't have to flip the hilt around either. So I love it and I am fond of it even though it is only a month and a half old. I have had several compliments on it especially due to it's weight as it is less likely to slide as the light ones and you know exactly where it is at all times. But you will have a dent in your head.

I second the search function that's how I went through and found the information was in Tribe!
        =) good luck!
