Oooh, thank you, Sandi...as I said, my brain is a bit on the wonky side, and since I'm still a student, myself, I wasn't aware of some of the cues that you'd actually use transitioning from a specific movement...I just knew for sure about the 'going flat-footed' one...

Oh..and yes, I'm okay...got an ovarian cyst that decided to make itself known to me on Monday...on my one, poor remaining ovary...:-(...just a small one...but they told me to keep on the pain killers and consult with my regular doc...thank you for being so sweet to ask...

Cues for the Shimmy and Egyptian are in the arms.

If you were doing Arabic and went into the Shimmy, you'd see the arms move from overhead to shoulder level.
If you were doing Pivot Bump and went in the Egyptian, you'd see one arm move overhead to meet the other.

It makes sense to go from one movement to the next with a different arm shape, just for this purpose. It'd be really hard to catch the changes between a Shimmy, a Turkish Shimmy, a Single Bump and an U2D3 because they all have shoulder level arms.

Other cues for Shimmy are, going up on the balls of the feet (if you're in a flat footed movement) on the "and" and a more forward angle (moreso than say, an Arabic angle).
Other cues for Egyptian are, going flat footed on the left on the "and" and the swivel in the hips to the left that is caused by going flat footed on the left. As if you're gaining momentum for the up on the "one".

The arms and hands will give you most of the information you need, in most cases.

Hope that helps!

There is no cue for either move...

The only real cue or clue you'd have for the Egyptian is that the leader will go to a completely flat footed position...as in, if you're doing Arabic, she'd suddenly drop both feet and then go into the Egyptian...and I don't even think that's an actual cue, but just as I said...a lil clue...

If this has already been answered, I apologize for repeating the question. I couldn't find the thread in my initial search.

Is there a cue for going into the shimmy? Or do you just watch closely?

Is there one for going into the Egyptian? I know in the video, when the right hip goes forward the right arm goes back slightly, and the left arm goes forward slightly (I think I wrote that right), is that the cue?

Thank you!
