Could I have some advice on how many turns are executed with both the circle step and torso twist. We've been doing half turns with the torso twist and 1/3 turns with circle step. We heard that FCBD do half turns when doing the circle step in a duet, but wondered if this was the case?
thanks in anticipation :-)

Re: turns for circle step and torso twist
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 3:50 PMBoth movements can go in either halves or thirds. Duets are more likely to just do halves tho. -

Sun, April 13, 2008 - 9:23 PMis it okay to throw in a taxeem or reverse taxeem in between each circle step turn? -

Re: turns for circle step and torso twist
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 9:30 PMWe usually use the taxeem. This is mainly so we can initiate the next turn with the changes in the music. If the music moves along swiftly, we might limit the taxeems inbetween. -

Re: turns for circle step and torso twist
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 3:42 AMHi Sandi. Thanks for the info. I was just wondering to clarify; how do you cue either a half or third turn if you're the leader so that it is clear for the other dancers?. Our troupe were thinking we would have to do third turns as a formation larger than 2 and just did half turns in a duet. -

Re: turns for circle step and torso twist
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 11:28 AMMost likely, you'll do thirds in trios or quartets and halves for duets. But that isn't set in stone. When the leader initiates any turn, she gives up the lead at that point. So, its up to the followers-now-leaders to decide whether to take it into halves or thirds. So, to answer your question, the there is no cue a half or third turn. Just pay attention and keep the peripheral vision open! :} -
