Have a possible new student in Gainesville Florida. Do we have anyone down there teaching?

Re: ATS in Gainesville Florida?
Sun, September 20, 2009 - 6:48 PMNone that I know of. I'm from Gainesville originally, but now hail from Orlando. All those sparkly college kids; it's more of a cabaret town. I found one teacher who labeled herself as "tribal" and took *one* class from her when I was visiting my folks a couple years back and it was a train-wreck.
The only individual that I personally know of teaching ATS in Florida is down near Miami...I'm not as familiar with the dance scene in northern Florida. I don't know of anyone in Orlando teaching ATS (although we have several forms of ITS going on).
But if she/he wants to have an awesome ATS practice when I visit the homestead then that would be fun! :-) I just took GS a couple months ago and am still flying high! -

Re: ATS in Gainesville Florida?
Mon, September 21, 2009 - 6:49 PMWell, my understanding is that unless the class is 100% pure FCBD vocabulary then it's considered ITS. Along with ATS moves, Lacey teaches FCBD moves that have been slightly adapted, moves from the Gypsy Caravan vocabulary and some combos that she's created herself. Although she's integrating more ATS moves since taking GS this summer, her current style is still an amalgamation of several different dance voices.
:-)

Tue, September 22, 2009 - 4:27 AMGotcha. I always thought she did straight ATS (not that I had any basis for that).
