each duet has the leader in the left position, but one of them is the leader of the entire set-up. she could be upstage, or downstage, it would need to be determined by the dancers. leader 1 cues the move and leader 2 either does the move simultaneously, or waits some beats and does the same move later. the followers only follow their leader, the one on their left.

the two leaders can change places with each other and also turn toward their followers and change positions to change leaders. it's very important to always be aware of what leader 1 is doing, especially during turns and backs are turned. the idea behind dueling duets is to do the same moves at different times, not to "duel" and pull off different moves. the beauty is watching two movements done at different times.
it's especially beautiful done to slow music, when there are no set beats to follow; just the feel of the music!

I believe when working in a duet formation, with Chico Four-Corners, if you want to go around each other: you do the move, you do the move again but step a little closer together and that signals that the next time you do it you'll go around each other. (correct me if I'm wrong, please)

In this clip:

Wendy and Sandi also move past each other with Shoulder Shimmies (1:10 and again later) and Arabic (2:09). I really like these passes, but can't seem to find any "cue" for the pass. I'm especially intrigued by the first pass at 1:10 since both women are facing forward.

Can someone clarify the signal for these passes? Thank you!!!

If you're looking at this formation straight on from an audience perspective it seems as if the duet down stage right should have the follower on the left side of her leader, instead of traditionally behind leader's right shoulder so that she is not hidden by the leader and secondary follower. (Hope this makes sense).
