ok, there is a move with Wendy and the other girl (sorry I forgot her name again, which is terrible cause I remember dancing with her in San Francisco one day!)
it is on this video at 1:45 www.youtube.com/watch
They are facing in and do the ASWAT with half turns and then the one with a flourish, facing each other, so how do they know it is not turning into the ASWAT circle? Can you only do the ASWAT circle with 3 or 4 people? Or is it cause they were facing each other starting the ASWAT that it is not seen as a circle?

Re: and another one on ASWAT!
Fri, December 14, 2007 - 7:37 AMHi, Hilde-
While Amy and I were doing the ASWAT facing, we were staying in place. If I had started traveling with it, that would have indicated that we were going to circle with it. Does that help? -

Re: and another one on ASWAT!
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 2:18 AMHi Wendy,
Another query re: the ASWAT facing in to each other: if the dancers have done the ASWAT, and the leader cues the turn and ends this facing in to the other dancers, could the leader initiate the ASWAT again in place instead of travelling with it, or is it automatically assumed you'll go into the ASWAT circle?
Thank you!

Re: and another one on ASWAT!
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 2:23 AMJust to clarify, the example before started with all dancers performing the ASWAT to the front!

Re: and another one on ASWAT!
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 9:04 AMHmm. Good question. I suppose you could hold and do one in place, but it's much more dramatic to face and go right into the turns. Plus, I think it would be harder to catch that that's what's happening, at least in our case, because we're so conditioned to go straight into the turns when we face. -

Re: and another one on ASWAT!
Wed, March 5, 2008 - 11:34 AMI would suppose that if you faced in and did not travel on the 1234, that it would be seen as not traveling with the 5678 turns. I see any stepping in clockwise fashion to mean that we're traveling and any stationary cueing as movements done in place. But I agree with Wendy, its much more dramatic to see it travel right away after you face in. :}
