turkish shimmy with arms and turn

Hi, sorry if this question has been asked before.

My group are working on this move and have a question about when you're turning in a circle. When someone wants to take the lead facing the front and leaving the circle, do you always do this on the 5 as in 1234 turn, turn and then face the front on the 5? Or can you finish the cycle of turn turn then step forward and back to 8 counts and face the front on the one beat? Is there any specific move you do to break out of the turn? We noticed on volume 7 Carolena was doing the arabic or finishing the turkish shimmy facing the front.

Its late, I have a hungry baby who needs my attention so I hope this makes sense. Its a great move and so fun all spinning in a circle!!

    Hi, Emily-
If you want to take the lead facing front out of that movement, at the back of the circle you'd start your 1234, facing front on 5, and finishing 678 facing front before transitioning into a new movement.
If you come out of the 8 counts in a position where you could move into the lead, you could transition into another traveling movement to get into the lead position. For example, if your 8 counts brings you to the back of the circle, as you are circling toward the lead, you could transition into an Arabic to bring you forward into the lead. Does that make sense?

As for movements to transition out of that, any movement with a clear arm change is good, which is why you'll often see us use the Arabic.

I hope that answers your question!
