I posted this in Tribal costuming, but I suspect I may get a much better response here, since I am in the process of making a new bra... for my ATS costuming. Seriously. This is why I don't have a decent coin bra for my costuming... so maybe someone can help?

"How many coins does it take to cover the cups of a 36/38 DD bra. Hmm!!"

This could almost be a contest!!! LOL!! The winner gets a free hug, from me!!! :)

Seriously though. Here's one of the huge (no pun intended) of having a larger chest... cover bras in anything -- is an extra challenge. Coins especially.

Anyone have a rough estimate as to how many it takes to cover a 36/38 DD ... and any tips and tricks on how to do it better, easier, and holy cow... lighter??? I have almost 50 on one already and it's not even done yet.

  • I don't necessarily recommend coating an entire bra with coins if you are such a large bra size. For one, the boobs are already heavy enough, without adding tons more weight. Coins are damn heavy, and they put strain on your neck or shoulders (depending on the straps you choose). For another, you don't want to look like you're wearin plate mail! Smaller boobie girls look opulent with bras coated in coins. Big busted gals look like they are going to war.

How many it takes depends greatly on the spacing and chosen amount of overlap, the particular style and cut of the bra you are applying them to, the size and shape of the coins, and whether or not you are putting anything else on the bra (such as a trim along the top of the bra, or leaving the underside of the cups only covered in fabric, but not coated in coins). So very difficult to answer! It takes as many as it takes!

I would say if you put 50 on and still aren't done with one cup, I would adjust the design a little. Allow for some other trims and items to dress it up (look at FC bras--they have tokens, chain, bells, etc), and leave some space on the underside of nthe cups to keep from looking like a knight on horseback!
  • Assuit may be a nice fabric answer to getting some shimmer/sparkle w/o the weight...
Perhaps cover the whole bra in it, then sparingly add coins, bells, charms, etc.

There's folks on ebay that sell new assuit for OK price, so it doesn't feel so tragic to cut it up for use in costuming.... :)

Or perhaps using a piece of Rajasthani mirror fabric to cover the top section, then add coins below?
