Hi guys,
I just was wondering what people do when they wrap up a piece. Do you just freeze the last move? Do you do something special? In the past, whenever we "officially" perform, we set up something for the end so we know what to do. But we have had instances when, just for the fun of it, we're doing some improv to a random piece that we don't know thoroughly so sometimes the end catches you by surprise. What do others do?

Re: End of a piece
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 9:42 AMI wonder about that all the time! I wonder where my arms will end up and if they'll get there at the right time to the end of the song.

Re: End of a piece
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 10:16 AMJust casually and comfortably move to a pretty ending pose. Don't panic. Don't let it show that you were caught off guard. Smile and make it look natural. -

Re: End of a piece
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 9:59 AMNot to pick on you, Celeste, but it is correct verticle threading. Sooz responded to Shay first so she's right under Shay's response. Then you responded to Sooz, which pushed your response to Shay under that. If you eyeball the indents, its all correct. What I get confused with is when people respond to the last post in order for it to be at the bottom, but is not really responding to the bottom post at all, but to someone up in the middle of the thread. Doesn't make sense in the convo.
Sorry, I went off topic! Its one of my pet peeves here. ;} Carry on!

More OT
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 10:14 AMI don't sort Threaded, I sort Newest First. So I always paste a >clip of what I'm responding to to help those who sort differently & don't want to wade through the thread layers :-)

Wed, April 23, 2008 - 12:30 PMhehehe. Yes, I knew that it was the correct threading but it just looked odd so I thought that I might need to clarify... and I did not even write that clarification well. I'm so brain dead at times! lol

Re: End of a piece
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 6:17 AMIn our troupe we just follow the leader ;-) And she usually finishes the combo or movement we are in and then goes to a nice pose. Desn't matter if we are a few seconds after the music ends, the main focus is on the flow, not to panic and quickly end in the middle of a movement.
If you know the music you can also agree on a nice ending pose.

Re: End of a piece
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 12:17 PMOur group has a specific weird or nonsense word that the leader (or anyone else that is listening to the song and can tell the end is near) will yell and that tells the group we have less than 16 counts to wrap it up and pose.
Make sure it is not a word you would use any other time like "yalla".
This sets everyone on the alert for that "pose combo" or that sudden stop if we miss it and everyone is ready to make it look cool ;)
